What exactly does "dog breed" mean?
A dog breed is a specific and distinguishable breeding of a domestic dog. The Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) currently has about 370 different dog breeds listed and thus recognized. The cynological umbrella organization assigns the dog breeds to different groups and sections based on their appearance and nature. There are 10 FCI groups, including, among others, FCI Group 1: Herding Dogs & Cattle Dogs or FCI Group 3: Terriers.
The choice of dog breed - which dog suits me?
To deal with the different dog breeds is crucial for us humans especially when we want to get a new four-legged friend. Which dog suits me? That is the most important question when buying a dog. It does not always have to be a purebred puppy, because even in the case of mixed breeds from the shelter, the various breed combinations give us information about whether the dog will be very large, for example, or possibly has a hunting instinct. However, not only the breed and its characteristics determine the development and behavior of the four-legged friend, but also the education and socialization.

The history and origin of the large poodle
The large poodle was originally used for duck hunting and originated in France. It was not until the 19th century that the poodle went from being a working dog to a pure companion for humans. The breed gained popularity due to its beautiful appearance and friendly nature, first among the nobility and received its name "King's Poodle". This was retained when commoners also took a liking to the poodle.
Character and nature of the royal poodle
The large poodles are very athletic, robust and nimble due to their slender, strong physique. In addition, the animals with the curly coat are very intelligent and love to be mentally challenged. They are cuddly and need a lot of attention from their humans. They are cheerful and convince especially by their affectionate character. Thus, they are well suited for families with small children. The King Poodle is a good guard for house, yard and the whole family. With the right education you can find a great and faithful companion for life with the poodle.
The education of the self-confident king poodle
The hunting instinct is deeply anchored in the genes of the poodle and should be trained off in a focused way. Intensive individual training sessions are suitable for this, as anti-hunting training is very demanding. Otherwise, the Poodle is an uncomplicated dog, eager to learn, which makes little problems in terms of education. Consistency, plenty of exercise, mental training and intensive rest periods are elementary for the education of these active and self-confident dogs. They sometimes overshoot the mark and tend to be hyperactive and should then be reminded to rest. They prefer to do this during long cuddle sessions with their caregivers, where the bond between human and animal is intensified. The Poodle loves to fetch, enjoys swimming, learns tricks quickly and is wonderful to keep busy with intelligence toys. The poodle is also suitable for beginners, but not for people who have little time.
The holding of the beautiful large poodle
The poodle needs enough exercise, loves long walks and play sessions. To challenge him additionally, a dog sport like agility can be started. The Poodle will love the challenges and will be eager to learn. The King Poodle should be kept in an apartment or house with a garden, as he is very active after all. If he is not exercised, he likes to start nibbling on shoes or baseboards. Praise and attention are very important for the Poodle, because he wants to please his owner. When raising him, care should be taken to ensure that he has a quiet resting or sleeping place, otherwise the active King Poodle is not particularly good at resting.
Fashion and care tip/size recommendation for the King Poodle
The coat of the poodle needs a lot of care. In addition to regular visits to the dog groomer, we recommend our Premium Coat Care Set and the Dog Brush Resolve for ideal daily coat care for long-haired breeds. Despite the sometimes unruly coat of the poodle, this breed hairs very little and is therefore suitable for allergy sufferers. Especially at the eyes, the fur should be cleaned regularly, otherwise the easily watery eyes can accumulate bacteria, which can cause not only red-brown fur discoloration, but also inflammation. The King Poodle looks especially chic with the William Walker Dog Collar Ocean, with matching Leash, Poop Bag Holder and Treat Bag from our Smooth Leather Collection. With a neck circumference of approximately 35 - 45 cm, the collar sizes M and L are suitable. For that certain something, our stylish Bandanas provide.
