The two D-rings on the back give you maximum flexibility in everyday use. Depending on your dog's body length and your preferred leash setup, you can attach the leash either to the front or to the back ring. With a double-ended leash or two carabiners you can use both rings at the same time. This distributes the pulling force evenly across the back and your dog walks even more relaxed. Combined with the ring on the chest, this creates a two-point system that lets you guide your dog especially gently and with precise control.

Yes, the Y-harness is well suited to dogs that pull. The wide-area padding and the ergonomic Y-shape distribute the pulling force evenly across the chest and back, instead of concentrating pressure on a narrow point at the neck. For targeted anti-pull training, you use the ring on the chest. When your dog pulls forward, he's gently redirected to the side and learns without pressure to walk more relaxed on the leash. The combination of chest and back ring with a double-ended leash gives you extra control for strong pullers.

For the right size, measure your dog's chest circumference at the widest point, roughly a hand's width behind the front legs. Make sure the tape is not tight and that two fingers fit between the tape and the body. As additional orientation, especially for dogs with a very deep or very short ribcage, we recommend checking the sternum length. That's the distance from the top of the breastbone to the point where the straps run upwards. Both values can be found in our size chart on the product page. If your dog falls between two sizes by chest circumference, we also recommend using the sternum length as guidance.

In our size chart you'll also find a mapping of common breeds to the individual sizes. This information is based on our experience and is meant as a rough orientation. Within a breed, there are sometimes significant differences in build and size. A particularly strong male may need a larger size, a particularly petite female a smaller one. The breeds listed are therefore not a guarantee for the right fit but a first indication. If you want to be sure, there's no way around measuring.

The Y-harness is infinitely adjustable at four points, so it can be individually matched to your dog's shape. It's available in sizes XS, S, M, L and XL. You can find the right size based on your dog's chest circumference in the size chart on the product page. Thanks to the step-less adjustability, the harness grows a bit with your dog and also fits securely and comfortably across different body shapes within one size.

First open the two side-release buckles on the side. Then guide your dog's head through the upper loop so that the narrow strap lies in front of the chest. Now carefully slide the chest section between the legs and close the buckles at the belly. Then adjust the harness with the four sliders until it sits well without digging in. As a rule of thumb, two fingers should fit between the leather and your dog's body.

Caring for your leather dog harness is straightforward. For everyday cleaning, it's enough to wipe the leather with a soft, slightly damp cloth. For heavier dirt, use a mild leather cleaner. To keep the leather supple and preserve its colour, we recommend regular treatment with leather balm or a colourless leather care product. A leather-suitable waterproofing spray also protects against moisture and dirt. Don't put it in the washing machine, don't soak it and don't dry it in direct sunlight or on a radiator.

The leather dog harness is not made for prolonged contact with water. Getting briefly wet from rain or a quick puddle walk isn't a problem as long as you let the harness air-dry afterwards. For extended swimming trips, stream walks or lake swimming we recommend taking the leather dog harness off. Longer contact with water can dry out the leather and change its colour. After contact with moisture, let the harness dry at room temperature and then treat it with leather balm.
